Teddy Lowe with some nice ones.

The lake level is 551.24 and is just about where it was at this time yesterday with 2-hours of running one generator. The White River at Newport is 4.37 feet and very low indicationg not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 64-degrees and the water is a good color and at a good level for fishing and boating. Scuba Steve could see his lure down 7-8 feet in Blackburns Creek area. The weather has been beautiful with some needed rain coming tomorrow and again in the middle of next week. You do not have to go very far from Blackburns dock to catch fish so you can dodge the rain. Scuba Steve was catching Crappie on the grub and minnow and then the Bass started coming up all around him. He thought it might happen so he was fishing a bank that the wind had been blowing into.  He switched to a Spitin Image and caught several. He moved to Hensley's Creek and More fish were coming up and they were a big school of short Walleye. All were about 15-16 inches long and he released all of them immediately. Shell Crackers and Big Bluegill were also biting on top of brush. Some fish are on nests, some are making nests some are spawning and some are staging for spawn. The big male Bass moved to the Bank from under Scuba Steve's Dock yesterday to make nestes. Soon you will see guides bragging about how many Bass they are killing to get business. There are too many greedy guides and they are hurting the lake trying to kill as many fish as they can. You do not need a guide to catch fish especially at those prices but you will soon if they keep it up. Just because you can does not mean you should. Leave some for the children.  Catfish are starting to bite part way back in the creeks on live bait. I would say everything is about a week or two ahead of normal. Blackburns has several good fishermen in now and they are all catching fish. It has been a very busy March and April here so far with people taking advantage of the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. The money you save by staying at Blackburns can off-set the high gas prices. You can launch and park your trailer right here and step on the dock. No need to go elsewhere. Scuba Steve has some very good brush piles close and the fish will be moving back to them soon. We have it all here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and at the best price. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. We especially welcome Veterans, Police and I.C.E agents.
