Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 549.98 and is up 1-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running for 3-hours last evening and 3-hours again this morning. There is not any reason to not hold the level down. They like it high. It has raised 4-1/2 feet in the last couple of weeks and spring rains are not here yet.  Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is 1-ft. higher than normal so the lake will still rise a bit more. The White River at Newport is 9.17 feet normal and stable. The surface water temperature is 58-degrees and the water is clearing rapidly both in the creeks and in the main lake. Scuba Steve caught some nice fish yesterday before the cold front came through. It went from 69-degrees to 50-degrees in just a couple of hours with the wind shifting to from the north and cold. It is to warm up again tomorrow and then another cold front coming in on Sunday with very cold temperatures and heavy frost. You gotta love March. Scuba Steve does not. You definitely have to pick your days to go fishing. I go out everyday but sometimes I do not stay out long. We are just fortunate that we have missed all of the severe weather so far and the lake is in good condition and at a good level. It would be better if we had more competent people managing the lake levels. We are getting calls from people staying at Air B&B's and VRBO's wanting to rent boats. We are sorry. We cannot rent boats to people not staying here plus VRBO's and AIR B&B's cannot provide boat's with their rentals or dock slips on Norfork Lake. If they do they lose their dock lease. If you stay at one of these you must rent a boat from a marina. If you want to bring your own boat you must trailer it every day or rent a stall at a marina.  These are Corps of Engineer Rules. They have a lot of them.
