The lake level is 549.78 and has risen 2-1/4 inches in the last 24-hours with 2-hours of running one generator. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is still a foot high so we will get more rise but not a lot. We missed the rain last night and this morning and a cold front is passing through now with falling ambient temperatures and northerly winds. We are to get freezing temperatures with another cold front next week. The surface water temperature is 58-degrees and the White River at Newport is 9-ft. normal and rising. The main lake has stained brown and the visibility has dropped to just a few feet. The creeks are more clear than the main lake in Blackburns area but still clear by the dam where creeks do not flow in. I do not go there much but Big Creek has some good fishing . There is some debris floating from the rising water and also coming down from the north from when the creeks run heavily twice a few days ago. It is not bad but you have to keep an eye out. Scuba Steve thinks the water color is just right for fishing and he caught some good ones yesterday. Too clear water is not good. Black Bass and Crappie are the best bite but a few Stripers are pre-spawn feeding. They are on schedule to spawn the last of this month during and just before the full moon at dark. 5-inch suspending Rogue or Husky Jerk Stick Baits are the lure of choice. There are a lot of Small Stripers out there and he does not know how good the night bite will be. There are a lot of guides out there putting pressure on them and killing as many as they can every day and hurting the lake trying to impress people but they weed themselves out and come and go. The lake can only handle so many and it has exceeded it's limit with new ones every day. Everything is earlier than normal this year but that does not mean it will stay that way. March is not predictable. The lake surface water temperaure usually hits 70 by early to mid May and that is when the fishing overall is the best. Scuba steve will keep you informed for free.
