Fisherman Mike with a couple of Nice ones yesterday. Released under the dock.

The lake level is 546.50 and is up 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with 6-hours of running one generator. We received a total of 1.4 inches of rain with the first 1.2 coming fast and furious. It overloaded culverts and washed out roads and started about 3:PM. The creeks run hard bringing a lot of debris in the backs of the creeks on the lake. It has stopped now. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is up a couple of feet so the lake will rise a little more. It depends on the generation but will be nothing drastic. The water on the main lake is still clear.  More rain is scheduled intermittantly for the next several days. The stained water will warm more quickly that the clear water, if we get any sunshine and the fish will move to the warmest water. Especially the Black Bass. The surface water temperature was 52-degrees on the main lake yesterday afternoon when Scuba Steve came in. I do not fish for White Bass but they should move to the backs of the larger creeks and up river to spawn if they have not already. There are still some schooled on the main l;ake in 50-ft. of water about 20-feet down in Blackburns area on shad. Stripers will move to the shallows to simulate a spawn the very end of this month just before and during the full moon at dark. Spawned out Walleye will be back downstrean with them. 5-inch stick baits for the Stripers and soft plastics for Walleye before dark on shadowy banks. Stripers are the only predator fish that I know of that ingest their own eggs. It would be nice if the Stripers would reproduce in Norfork like they do in Lake Texoma and then they could stock other species. They do not stock Stripers anymore in Texoma and have a lot of them. The lake overall is in good condition but I do not like to see all of this trash in the backs of the creeks. Largemouth Bass generall start spawning on Norfork Lake when the water hits 60-degrees with some of the larger ones a little earlier. Kentuckies spawn most of the summer. Smallmouth are simular to largemouth. They are not there yet but should start pre-spawn feeding soon if the weather holds. It can get very cold in March. You can get a 1-bedroom cabin at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89?day. 3&4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more and you can launch right here. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation to get a cabin and boat rental of your choice.
