The lake level is 546.14 and has risen 1-inch in the last 24-hours. It was higher with the one inch of badly needed rain but they have run one generator for 5-hours so far today and still generating. Bryant Creek in Tecumseh did not rise so the lake will not come up much more. The rain was gentle and all sunk in with light wind. Just what we needed. The White River at Newport is 2.57 feet and very low and about ready to dry up and the surface water temperature is 52-degrees. The water is clearing nicely and Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 10-feet. We are to get more rain later this week with no frost scheduled. Scuba Steve has been Bass fishing and caught several last evening. Mostly Kentuckies with several small ones but some nice sized ones also. Taking the size limit off Kentuckies has not seemed to lower their numbers much. Crappie fishing is still either feast or famine. You can fish several brush piles with fish on them but catch nothing. If you find feeding fish they bite fast. There is a good mix of both throw back fish and 11-14 inch ones with a few very large ones in the 16-inch range. There are reports of White bass starting to move back in the creeks but I have not seen any. The Stripers being caught are mostly small with several under the 20-inch limit. 20-lb. fish are scarce. We will see when the night bite starts late this month as the full moon approaches again. Scuba Steve has not caught a Walleye so they must be moving North to spawn. I do not chase them this time of year as they will come back to Blackburns area in May and post spawn feed on mainlake point brush piles. The Bluegill have moved in under Blackburns Dock and that usually means spring is here. Catfish and Bass will be next.  April, May and June are the best fishing and now is the time to book you spring fishing trip and family summer vacation at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. We continue to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the ozarks. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. There will be no price increases for 2026. Some are raising already. We are not. We want you to have an affordable vacation. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more and you can launch right here. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. With the money you save staying at Blackburns you can spend on the rising gas prices.
