The lake level is 545.63 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with varying amounts of generation. It does not need to drop anymore. We are 8-feet below the top of the power pool. They manage the lake either feast or famine. Flood us out or dry gulch us. How do you want your steak, raw or burned? Scuba Steve will take a little medium for once. All they have to do to not let it get too low is quit generating and when it rains generate. The White River at Newport is 3.8 feet and low. The surface water temperature is 44-degrees this morning and the water is clear near the shore and Scuba Steve could see his lure down 5-6 feet in the warm sunshine on the main lake. The wind is light and the ambient temeperature is in the low 70's. The snow is gone except for on the north side of things out of the sunshine. The Bass fishermen are doing pretty well but it takes all day for two people to catch 15-lbs of fish. A few largemouth are showing up as they move a little shallower early and late to feed and some nice sized Kentuckies are still on the brush piles in 18-20 feet of water. Striper fishing is slow. The full moon in March is when they usually move in on shallow flat banks to spawn at dark but that may be a little early this year as it is the 3rd but they will be there for sure by the Full Moon in April which is the 2nd and probably a few days before that. After that the top-water bite will start after the 15th of April and be in full swing by May 1st. March fishing can be tough will all the cold fronts coming through and the last of April, all of May and early June are prime fishing times. Crappie fishing during these times is always good. May and June are excellent Catfishing times on live Bluegill. Now is the time to schedule your spring fishing trips and summer family vacations. There are a lot of fish in Norfork Lake. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located and he has some good ones. There will be no price increases here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental for 2026.
