The lake level is 547.18 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with varying amounts of generation. It does not need to drop anymore. The snow has been melting nicely for the last few days and especially on south facing banks. That is to cease tomorrow night and get cold again with a cold front and north wind. The surface water temperarure is 43-degrees and the water is clearing. Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 6-feet in Blackburns Creek area. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level for this time of year. The fishing is fair with Crappie and Kentucky Bass on brush piles in 20-25 feet of water about 5-10 feet down and biting on jigs and live minnows. SomeTemperate bass are deep in 70-feet of water near the bottom and some are on shad shallower with some largemouth Bass with them. Spoons are the lure of choice for them. February is on the way and should bring better weather and fishing with it sooner or later. There will be cold fronts coming in weekly and mix them with a big moon will not help fishing any. The best fishing will be on cloudy days right before the high pressure moves in when the moon is small and the wind is from the south. The water is cooling much more rapidly near the shore in the creek shallows than on the deep main lake and the fish will be in the warmest water. Sometimes that is near the bottom where there is still oxygen. They will move up shallow to feed on shad in the evenings and after dark under lights.
