The lake level was 549.31 and had risen 1/2 inch in the last 24- hours with no generation when Scuba Steve came in at dark last evening. The lake level has been almost stable for a month. They are only letting out anything when it gets cold. The surface water temperature is 51+ degrees and stable. It warms in the warm sunshine and then gets back to the low 50's after sunset. The ambient temperature was in the 70's today for a high.  The lake visibility is also stable and varies if we get wind. Scuba Steve could see his lure down 4-5 feet. That is not bad but not nearly what it was several years ago when you could see down 20+ feet in the winter. The White River at Newport is 3.10 and very low but is rising slowly. It is less than the spring-fed Bryant creek that feeds the Norfork River. It is just over 4-feet when there is no rain. There is no effort to drop the lake and it is not low and could drop a couple of feet this winter before the spring rains to help to not to flood us out. It is very dry here and we need rain badly. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level for fishing. Fishing is just fair. The winter Bass tournament won with over 15-pounds  Saturday and that is pretty good. Those boys know how to catch fish. They release all of them. After several, years of White Bass being low numbers they are starting to finally make a comeback. They were almost gome. Now that they are coming back some meat hunters are trying to make them extinct again while killing hundreds of them and bragging about it. Actually I do not care much about red meat fish but they are easily caught and the children like to catch then. They fight hard especially when nothing else is feeding. I certainly would not pay $600/day to catch them. Follow the birds and drop a spoon. Scuba Steve was working on boats all day and went out at 4PM and caught 3-Crappie, two sammich Bluegill and two keeper Kentucky Bass. He released all of them under Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's Dock. They like the new brush piles especially when they get fed every night. We like it when the children catch fish off the dock. Everything does not have to be about how many fish you can kill but we do not mind how many fish you keep as long as it is within the law. We are not keeping score. What we do have here is the best place, closest to town, the best prices, the best dock the best launch and all at the best price. Compare prices and Call Debbie at 870-492-5115  for a reservation and Scuba Steve will show you where his best brush piles are located. He has some good ones. You can stay here, park here, launch here. Not bad. Boat stalls are free unless you bring ths Queeen Mary and we have all different sizes.
