The lake level is 549.62 and has dropped 1-1/4 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running for 5-hours and one generator running for 1-hour. The surface water temperature is 55-degrees on the main lake in this area and cooler in the shallower creeks. The water is stained and Scuba Steve could see his lure down 3-feet in the cloudy weather. The creeks have stained up again with very little visibility. They change almost daily with the wind. The White River at Newport is 3.80 feet and very low. We are dry here and need rain badly. It is to get very cold with lows in the teens tonight and tomorrow and them warm up a bit again. This is our first cold weather but is short lived. The best fishing right now is Temperate Bass of all kinds with White Bass schooled on shad and biting in the evening, after dark and early before sunrise. Trollers are going back and forth through the schools and catching some every time through. Some Stripers in the 5-8 pound range are with them and a few Hybrids. Spoons are also working. I am not a fan of umbrella fishing but it works also. I leave the red meat fish to the meat hunters but they are fun to catch and this is a good time for them. It will slow as the water gets colder and the fish move to around the bridges. Crappie and Bass fishing is fair with some nice ones being caught every day. There are a lot of smaller Crappie this year and fewer giant ones but quite a few in the 11-12 inch range. Kentucky Bass fishing is fair to good with some nice ones being caught. Scuba Steve is not catching very many big Largemouth for some reason but every once in a while a 4-pouinder is being caught but not in high numbers. I will try harder to catch and release some but it is difficult to move me off the big Crappie and Walleye. Now is the time to plan your spring fishing trip and summer family vacation.
