The lake level is 549.87 and has risen 1-inch in the last 24-hours with no generation. The White River at Newport is 4.48 feet and low and the surface water temperature is 56-degrees. The water is stained and Scuba Steve could see his lure down 3-4 feet. It is warm and windy out there today with cold weather coming in on Sunday and Monday and warming again after that. The cold fronts just keep coming through every week and will continue through March and sometimes they are twice a week turning fishing off and then it comes back again. The best times are in the dark of the moon, cloudy skies and low pressure with light winds. South winds warm, north winds cold.  Fish windblown banks and points. The days are short. Lately the best bite has been at 4:PM for Bass, Walleye and Crappie with Temperate Bass feeding early on shad in open water. The Stripers being caught are in the 5-8 pound range with a lot of the big ones dying off late this summer with the water being held up too high for too long. The Corps of Engineers Kill them and the State puts more in. A lot of Stripers and Hybrid Stripers are stocked along with a few Walleye and Red-ear Bluegill. Scuba Steve would like to see more Walleye stocked as they are fast becoming one of the most desired fish. Most fisherman are now after Largemouth Bass but Bass fishermen do not hire guides, Striper fishermen do and Norfork Lake has a lot of guides. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best price for both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and now is the time to plan your spring fishing trip and family summer vacations. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. There will be no price increases this spring here at Blackburns. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right.
