The lake level is 549.80 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with both generators running for about 3-hours. There is no effort to drop the lake and it has been fairly stable for a few weeks. It is not low.  Scuba Steve would like it about 2-feet lower going into the spring. At least they are not holding at 553.75 like they have the last several years. Sometimes they have a hard time in doing that. We have a better chance of not flooding out if it is lower in the winter and they try to hold it down for as long as they can without flooding anybody out downstream.  The White River at Newport is 3.34 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. We are dry. The surface water temperature is 56-degrees and the visibility is about 3-4 feet down on a sunny day. It is just having a hard time clearing up and has all summer and fall. White Bass, Crappie and Kentucky Bass are the best bite now with the White Bass schooled on Shad in open water and Bass and Crappie on or in front of brush on windblown banks. It is a beautiful mild day with highs in the 50's and should keep it up for a few days until the next cold front. The best bite is about 4:PM. Come on down and visit us and catch some fish. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best price on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. We are open all year and are family owned and family operated and are not for sale or have been sold. Scuba Steve has been here for 31-seasons and is the longest owner. Fisherman Joe held the previous record with 27-years. The best places do not change hands very often. If you find the best place stick with it. We like it here. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the sun and weather. If you are planning a spring fishing trip or summer family vacation give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping and a free stall at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. It is nice here and the price is right. Why pay more unless you just have too much money? If you do, stay at Blackburns and give the difference to disabled Veterans.
