The lake level is 550.57 and has risen 1-inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running for two hours. The surface water temperature is 63-degrees and the water stained up yesterday with reduced visibility for some reason. The White River at Newport is 2.71 feet and very low. It was cloudy with light rain yesterday and windy but it layed in the evening and Scuba Steve caught a few decent fish. The Crappie move up over the brush in about 5-feet of water at about 4:PM and several small Kentucky Bass are with them. I am not catching many Largemouth yet. Fishing is usually better than this on Thanksgiving week but should get better as the water cools and clears. The water has been slow to clear all year. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level for fishing. The bite can be very slow for an extended time and then turn on for just a few minutes. You have to work through it and keep looking for active fish. Use you trolling motor sparingly over brush and turn off spot lock. I am not catching more than 1-2 fish over each brush pile and usually get a bite on the first drop of the spoon or jig and then maybe one other one and then nothing. You either have to move or wait them out. The best bite is just before sunset until dark. The Crappie are not as big as they have been in the past years but there are still several nice ones in the 13-inch range and many about 9-10 inches. We will see what the winter brings. Norfork lake has a lot of fish. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is open all year and keeps several cabins open but not all. If you are in the Mountain Home area for the holidays stop by and check us out. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
