The lake level is 550.40 and has risen 1-inch in the last 24-hours with 1.1 inches of rain on Thursday and no generation. The rain warmed and cleared the surface water a bit, especially in the creeks, and it was 65-degrees last evening. The White River at Newport is 3.97 feet, very low and dropping. They are very reluctant to let out anything. The wade fishermen on the river like it but it is catch and release anyway in this area after they let most of the trout at the hatchery die. Scuba Steve could see his lure down over 5-feet on the main lake. He likes to Crappie fish right over brush when there is no wind so he does not have to use his trolling motor and spook the fish. Live minnows on a slip float was the bait of choice yesterday. He only caught one on the jig or grub. Kentucky Bass are right with them and right after sunset is the best time but you can catch fish all day on cloudy days. Sunny, high pressure, big moon not so much. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing. Scuba Steve is heading out right now. Little moon, low pressure with cloudy skies and light wind. Do not get between Scuba Steve and his boat. If you are in the area for the holidays stop by Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and check us out.
