The lake level is 550.57 and is up just a bit in the last 24-hours with no generation for two days. The White River at Newport is 4.48 feet and very low and dropping. The surface water temperature is 63-degrees and Scuba Steve could see hid lure down about 5-feet last evening. It was a beautiful day and another one today. I am so blessed to live here. The lake overall is at a good level, good water color and good condition for fishing. Crappie and Kentucky Bass continue to be the best bites but a few Walleye, Black Bass (Kentucky bass are technically Balck bass but I just refer Largemouth and Smallmouth as Black Bass) and White bass are also being caught. The best bite is right at sunset and small spoons, jigs, small grubs, and live minnows on a slip float are the best baits. Scuba Steve is not getting his normal 15-16 inch Crappie yet this year but there are some nice ones in the 12-13 inch range. There seem to be more smaller ones so far. I would like the lake level to be at the 548 ft. level going into the spring rainy season in May. People ask what if it does not rain and the lake gets too low? The lake never needs to get too low. All they have to do is quit letting out water. (they are good at that). Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is one of the main tributaries of the Norfork River and runs just over 4-feet even in a drought. It is spring fed and can supply all of the water needed for the city of Mountain Home. I repeat there is no reason for the lake to ever get too low unless they let it do so. They can maintain the lake at a reasonable level without flooding anyone out down stream almost all of the time if it is managed properly.  Nobody can manage around a 10-inch rain but they can be better prepared for one. Review the ancient operation rules and get a smarter person doing the management. Put the Corps of Engineers under the Department of Interior. At least I have my power lines up high enough so an airplane can fly under it to save all of the people that have been electrocuted on Resort Docks (O in the 30+ years that I have been here) under the guise of safety by the Corps Of Engineers Mandate which only really wanted to make us get rid of overhead power and go solar. Governent, we need more of it to tell us small business owners what we have to do in order for them to justify jobs and pay them. They have us outnumbered and could not care if they run us out of business but they have not run Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental out of business and we continue to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals on Norfork lake despite their efforts. A free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and it is nice here. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. The weather has been beautiful.
