Norfork Lake Crappie Caught on the Bink's Jigging Spoon.
Norfork Lake Crappie Caught on the Bink's Jigging Spoon.

The lake level is 550.96 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday. They have run 1/2 generator for 5-hours and nothing for the other 19. The lake is clearing nicely and is a good color for fishing. The surface water temperature is 66-degrees. The White River at Newport is 5,42 feet and rising slowly but very low. There is no effort to drop the area lakes. It is clear with cool nights and the high pressure and the upcoming full moon is not helping fishing any. (Especially what Scuba Steve is fishing for. Walleye, Crappie, and Bass). It is time for red meat fishermen to try for feeding Stripers at dark on windblown banks slow rolling stick baits.  Try at the mouth of the Walleye rearing pond in the Cranfield area and around and across from the tower at Quarry Marina. Fish for Walleye on Shadowy banks at sunset with a soft plastic until dark then switch to the stickbait. Crappie are in and over brush in 25-30 ft. of water and come up shallower just before sunset and Kentucky Bass are with them.  Bluegill are shallow under docks and in front of brushpiles. I cannot over emphasize windblown banks, brush piles and channel swings. The shad follow the plankton and the plankton blow with the wind. When the shad are on the bank in the evening the stripers will be with them feeding.  Use a 6-inch suspending stick bait and make sure it tracks straight when reeling slowly. If it pulls off to the side it will not work. Some of the same fish will be on shad near the same banks earlier in the evening but deeper. Use the spoon then and drop it through the shad.  The fall foliage is changing now and is better than last year but not spectacular. It is not worth a special trip here to peep leaves but they sure makes for beautiful scenery while driving the county roads or fishing the lake. The weather looks to be nice for the next week with high temperatures in the low 70's starting Tuesday. You can bet Scuba Steve will be out there. Blackburns continues to have the best place with the best prices in the Ozarks. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Come check us out and compare prices. It is nice here and the price is right. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. Why pay more? Yes we are open all year.
