Tim Peyton from Colorado caught some nice fish this last week. Nice fellow.
Tim Peyton from Colorado caught some nice fish this last week. Nice fellow.

The lake level is 550.93 and is up just a bit in the last 24-hours with 1/2 generator running for two hours. Not much. The surface water temperature is 66-degrees and dropping with the cool nights. We could get our first frost tomorrow but warm up nicely during the day. The weather looks great for the next week and should get back in the 70's early next week. It is an excellent time to catch a few fish, enjoy the sunshine and fall foliage both on the road sides and on the lake here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. Compare prices and come on down. It is nice here and the price is right.  The White River at Newport is 5.42 feet and is dropping and very low. The fall foliage is changing now and has some pretty good color, especially when the sun is shining on it. Some blew away with the wind yesterday but not a lot. It is better than last year. Fishing is picking up and Crappie are on and in front of brush in 20-25 ft. of water and biting live minnows and jigs. Some Walleye are in the same area and move to the bank at sunset. Fish shadowy banks with a soft plastic on a jig head. Kentucky Bass are on and around brush also but some are also going to the bank to feed in the evening. Red meat fish (Temperate Bass) are schooled and on the flats in front of the docks around Mallard Point and in open water going into Blackburns Creek and around Cow Point. The full moon is the 5th and some Stripers will move to the banks to feed at dark on a stick bait.  Some nice fish are being caught everyday on the spoon. Some nice Bluegill are shallow in front of brush in the evening and under docks. The sunny high pressure will not help fishing any but it is much nicer to be out than in the cold, damp and rain. Scuba Steve caught some nice fish during the last week but likes the sunshine better. He just goes out later in the day. Right at sunset is the best fishing. Blackburns has some good fishermen in now and they are catching some good ones. Come on down and join the great weather and the low prices here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. He has some good ones. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. A free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more and you can launch right here.  Overall the lake is at a good level, has good color and at a good temperature for fishing.
