The lake level is 550.95 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with 1/3rd of a generator running continuously. The surface water temperature is 71-degrees and dropping with the cool ambient daytime temperatures, cool nightime lows, shorter days and lower sun angle. We are to get rain on and off for the next 4-days but it does not look extreme so far. I like to go out until it rains me out and stay close to Blackburns Dock. A little moon, cloudy cool weather and light wind are my favorite fishing conditions. We need it bad. It was a beautiful day yesterday with warm sunny skies and a little breeze. I went fishing about 3:30 PM to check out a rental boat and caught a few. The Bluegill were near the bank, the Crappie and Bass were on and just in front of brush piles in 25-ft. of water. Scuba Steve's brush piles are at perfect depths now and are holding fish. I caught a few nice Bluegill, a couple of Kentcky Bass and a few Crappie on the grub and minnow. It was not fast but steady. At 5:PM fish came up on a windblown bank part way back in a creek in about 8-10 ft. of water on shad. They were Bass but the Crappie were just under them near the bottom. It only lasted a few minutes but was fun. Overall the fishing is just fair but getting better. The lake is in good condition, at a good level and clearing finally and Scuba Steve could see his lure down 3-4 feet on the main lake. I came in at dark. I love this time of year. There are a lot of fish in Norfork lake and it is really nice to be outside, on the water with low boat traffic and peace and quiet. All of Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the weather and enjoy the outside and watch nature. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Our prices start at $69/day for a one bedroom cabin and $89/day for a two bedroom. 3&4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. We have live bait and fishing tackle on site and Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located when you get here. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not need nearly as much policing as he used to for some reason. The fall foliage is starting to change a little faster now but is not where it should be. It usually peacks the very end of the month and has another week to go. I will let you know.
