The lake level is 551.17 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with 1/3rd of a generator running continuously. The White River at Newport is 5.80 feet and rising slowly but still very low. The surface water temperature is 75-degrees. The level and water temperature are about where they should be for this time of year. The lake turned over a week ago and is not clearing up very fast. The shorelines are clearing just a bit. It will clear with a little rain and cooler ambient temperatures. It looks like some weather for tomorrow. I am on my way to get the dock ready for a storm. We are very dry and need the rain but never need wind. Having a big dock is like having a teenage daughter out on a date. You always have to be worried about it. They take a lot of work but are well worth it. A resort without a dock is more like a drive by the road motel and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has a big nice one. Fall foliage is changing slowly but that should change with the upcoming rain and cooler ambient temperatures. We are still on schedule for a very end of October peak. The roadsides and ornamental bushes and trees are just starting to change. It has been a very warm fall so far but should drop down to normal next week. Fishing is picking up with White Bass, Bass and Crappie being the best bites. A few Catfish are coming in but not a lot. Main Lake brush piles in 25-35 feet of water are the best. Scuba Steve likes points just before the drop-offs where there is brush. There is a top-water bite early and late and are mostly Bass. White Bass are schooled and on Shad at various depths. Come on down to Blackburns and enjoy the fall weather, fall foliage, scenic drives, fall fishing and low prices. You can get a 1-bedroom cabin at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental for $69/day and it comes with a free stall for your boat at our big dock. You can launch here, park here with no need to go down a cliff to get to the water. Compare prices and give Debbie a call for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located.
