The lake level is 551.92 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with 1/3rd generator running about 20-hours and 1/2 generator running the rest of the time. Not much. The surface water temperature is 75-degrees and stable with the warm ambient temperatures. The White River at Newport is 5.33 feet and rising slowly but very low. The lake level is about normal for this time of year. The lake turned over last weekend and now everything is homogenous from the surface down to past 40-feet and it is trying to clear a bit near the shore after being stained green for a couple of months with poor visibility. The summer thermocline is gone and the clarity, water temperature and oxygen level are the same down to the cold water and there is no reason for the fish to be at any level except for cover and food. That is where Scuba Steve's brush piles come into play and we have some good ones and at good levels. We will show you where when you get here. There are a lot of baitfish out there and the predator fish are healthy. The prognosis for fall fishing looks good and the new moon on the 21st. of this month will be a good time for a fishing trip and fall foliage drive. The Fall Foliage is starting to turn with Scuba Steve's Burning Bush and Red Maple Tree changing a bit. The Sumac on the road side is also showing a little red. Both the lake and fall foliage are about where they should be for this time of year. Fall Foliage usually peaks the very last of October. We could us some rain and could get some on Saturday. All of Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the weather and watch the wildlife. Scuba Steve is no longer part of the wildlife. We also have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69. 2,3,4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right.
