The lake level is 553.22 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with 1/3rd of a generator running continuously. The White River a Newport is 8.64 feet and rising but it sure is not coming from Norfork Generators. The surface water temperature is 78-degrees and the water is still stained green with poor visibility for scuba diving. We did receive about 1/2 inch of rain last evening and it rained hard for about 20-minutes. Things remain green after being very dry for over a month. The fall foliage is kind of on hold after the recent rains and very warm summer-like weather. It has not changed much in the last week but things have quit turning brown.  Fishing is in a funk but some are being caught every day. Bluegill are the best bite but several Catfish and Bass are also being brought in along with a few Crappie. Scuba Steve is using a 1/4 ounce Bink;s Spoon green and white in color, a Bobby Garland Baby Shad blue ice color and a 2-inch white twister tail tipped with a live small minnow and a live minnow on a slip float. Nightcrawlers are catching a few Catfish. Nothing is biting well except Bluegill and they are on top of brush piles and under docks and biting crickets.  Normally I would be scuba diving but the water just will not clear up. It will take a cool down and lake turnover and a few days after that to clear up and by that time it will be too late to dive. The weather has been great and can stay like this for as long as it wants. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. You can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day or a 2-bedroom for $89/day. 3&4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. They all come with a free stall for your boat at our big dock and you can launch right here.
