The lake level is 553.56 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running for about 4-hours and 1/3 generator the rest of the time. The surface water temperature is 77-degrees and the water is still stained green with poor visibility. The White River at Newport is 7.37 feet and rising slowly but still low. The weather has been beautiful and with highs in the mid 80's with more to come. Everything has greened up again with the almost 3-inches of rain last week. Fishing is still just fair with Bass, Bluegill and Crappie being the best bites and jigging spoons the best lures. Night Crawlers and Minnows are also catching some fish over and in brush. Bass are moving back into the creeks after bait fish in the evening and staying there all night and going out on steeper deep banks when it warms up in the morning. Crappie are roaming for minnows on main lake brush in 25-30 feet of water. Bluegill are biting minnows, worms and crickets off docks. A good lure to use is a 1/4 ounce Green and white Bink's Jigging Spoon and a good place to stay is Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental where you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day and $395/week. Cannot beat that anywhere and a free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more.
