The lake level is 553.99 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with very little generation. They are holding the lake up as high as they can for as long as they can for some unknown reason. The surface water temperature is just over 80-degrees and has been fairly stable with the warm weather. Good for swimming. We received 0.4 inches of rain last night with more on the way tonight. We are very dry. The water is still stained green with poor visibility and the thermcline is still below 30-feet. The White River at Newport is 6.18 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. We are in a funk but Scuba Steve still has high hopes for the fall fishing. This is only the first day of fall. The water temperature could drop fast with cooler nights. The fall foliage is only changing because it is so dry and the summer is drawing to an end. I will keep you posted. My Maple tree is starting to turn a little red but the trees around the lake are only turning brown. My Burning Bush is the best indicator along with the Sumac on the roadsides. This could change. People are catching fish everyday but they are finicky. Not the people but the fish. The people want instant gratification. Crappie are spooky on top of brush in 20-25  feet and Kentucky Bass are on steep banks on the main channel in about 27-feet of water and biting the 1/4 ounce green and white Binks spoon. Some nice fish are being caught every day. Go out early, take the middle of the day off and go out again in the evening. Norfork lake has a lot of fish.
