The lake level is 557.70 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with 1-1/2 generators running 2/3rds the time and 1/3rd generator the rest of the time. The surface water temperature is 80+ degrees and dropping slowly and the White River at Newport is 12.14 feet and stable. Scuba steve is going out now to check visibility. It should be getting better after the holiday churning. It was not as bad as it could have been and not nearly as bad as the 4th of July. I am glad it is over and am ready for some fall and winter fishing. Crappie are the best bite right now. Look for brush piles on or near main lake points in less than 30-ft. of water that stick up to less than 23-feet. there will be Crappie on top of it and Walleye and Bass right inside. Use spoons or artificial bait and drop it right on their heads and get a reaction strike. They are not biting very well and the ones that I am cleaning are void of food. Overall the lake is in good condition and it looks to be good fishing soon. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's Dock is now in it's normal position and the road and parking lot are back and you can drive to the dock, launch, park and step right on. No need to go elsewhere to launch. We have a good setup and are on our off-season rates where you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89. 3&4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. Our big pool with slide is open. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located. He has the best ones. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
