The lake level is 561.20 and has dropped 2-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with varying amounts of generation but nothing like they could if they wanted to. There is no effort to get the lake to a notmal level. They predict it will be at 555.75 on September 13th and it will be nice to get the level back below 560 finally. The White River at Newport is 12.02 feet and dropping so they have reached their goal of getting it to 12-feet no matter the costs. Someone should throw them a bone. The surface water temperature is 89-degrees and should drop with the cooler weather. The thermocline is still at 30-feet and several fish are in the 23-ft. range where the oxygen is good. Below 25-ft it is low. Scuba Steve is seeing very few fish below 25-feet. Crappie, Bass, Walleye and a few Catfish and White bass are at 20-23 feet. They are not feeding very well but you can get some reaction strikes with a small spoon. The larger striper continue to die down by the dam. It is hard to believe we are approaching the Labor Day weekend already. The lake has been very busy on the summer holidays but not so much during the week. This has not been the busiest summer overall but a good steady one. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. We go on our off-season rates on the 1st of September and you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89/day. 3and 4- bedrooms are priced accordingly and a free stall for your boat at our big dock with launch comes with a cabin rental of 2-days or more.
