Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 561.53 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with much less generation. They are holding the lake up as high as possible for as long as possible and the larger Stripers are dying off quickly and there is no reason for it. The White River at Newport is 12.28 feet and dropping  to reach the magical level of 12-feet. The minor flood level is 25-feet. Go figure. Why? The Corps of Engineers needs to be disbanded and put under the Department of the Interior and get some accountability. They have none and are doing a miserable job. The Arkansas Game and Fish are doing a great job and it would be nice if the Corps of Engineers would cooperate with them but they do not cooperate with anybody. Their employees are the most disliked  people in all of Baxter and Marion Counties and for a good reason. Some people say they are just doing their job and what they are told to do but some of them do it very willingly. They need gone, Doge.  The whole group is a mess and needs replaced. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and it is raining now with thunder and we need every bit of moisture we can get. The thermocline is at 30-31 feet and the best oxygen is at 23-feet and there are several fish of different species there but the visibility is not the best. Fish are stressed and not feeding very well. Go for a reaction strike and put the lure right on their heads. They are better than live bait right now. Scuba Steve knows where the fish are located and will help you when you get here. He is getting some nice ones every day but it is not easy.
