Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 562.22 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with less than two generators running for about 14 hours and 1/3 generator running the rest of the time. The White River at Newport is 12.65 feet and dropping. They are really dragging this out for some unknown reason but there is no accountability. The surface water temperature is 89-degrees and the weather is very hot and dry and I mean hot and dry. The thermocline is at 31-feet and the visibility is poor in the creeks and fair below 27- feet but not good. It will get better. There were several boats out ther yesterday and today, the most that I have seen all year except for the holidays.  A few Walleye and Crappie are being caught on spoons and minnows over brush in 30-ft. of water 23-ft. down. Stripers are still dying down by the dam. Get out early until about 9:AM, take the middle of the day off and go to the Ballistic Birdie for air conditioned fun and then go out again about 6:30 PM until almost dark. Otherwise you will fry. Scuba Steve is running some water into Blackburns big pool to cool it down and it is very busy. Another way to cool off is to go Scuba Diving down to the thermocline at 31-feet.  All work.
