Things are looking good here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental despite the hot dry weather.

The lake level is 562.49 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with less than 1/2 generator running since midnight. They are holding the lake level up as high as possible for as long as possible to get to the magical number of 12-feet for the White River at Newport for a reason nobody knows. It would be nice for them to drop it below 560 before they slow down this much. It is hot and dry and they surely need some electricity somewhere. The surface water temperature is 88+ degrees and rising again. It is to be very hot with very little chance of rain until the middle of next week. There needs to be a burn ban on for Baxter County. The larger stripers continue to die down by the dam but Scuba Steve has seen it worse. It is a shame to stock them and then have them die off because of too high of water for too long when they could drop the lake. The thermocline is at 30-feet and the visibility is poor at 23-feet where a lot of bass, Walleye and Crappie are located. It is also poor in the creeks and best on steep banks on the main lake but not good anywhere. The black light fishermen are catching some Bass near the shore on saltcraws and the Crappie fishermen are catching them on brush on the main lake in 27-30 ft. of water on minnows and small spoons.  Walleye are on the same brush but at 23-feet. Nothing is below 30-feet except the larger Stripers and a few Walleye that have not died yet. It is the dog days of summer but should get better after the holiday. The lake is good for swimming, boating and water sports  Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks.
