The lake level is 564.45 and has dropped 3-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the thermocline is at 27-feet. The White River at Newport is 13.82 feet and stable. The water clarity is fair to poor down to 22-feet and poor until after the thermocline. The lake overall is in good condition for boating, swimming and water sports. Stripers are still deep and biting the spoon and Bass are moving in to feed on Crawdads in the evening. Some Crappie are showing up in Pigeon Creek on top of shallow brush but you have to look for them. Blue gill are biting on crickets off Blackburns Dock. There is a top-water bite for Bass some mornings early. Several fish are at or around the thermocline in the mud line with poor visibility. Some schools start on Monday or Tuesday of next week here and it will really slow down the boat traffic during the week and then we have the mad house for Labor day. If you have not made your reservation yet call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Blackburns still has the best place with the biggest pool in the Ozarks and also has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals. It is nice here and the price is right. We will not charge you too much. We especially welcome Veterans and Police and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Why pay more?
