The lake level is 564 80 and has dropped 4-inches in the last 24-houre with both generators running about 2/3rds the time and less that one for 1/3rd. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees with the thermocline at 27-feet in some places and 24-feet in others. The visibility is fair to poor and the White River at Newport is 14.35 feet and stable. They are still predicting Norfork will be at 555.75 on 16 September. Table Rock is below normal now. It is very dry and all of the rivers are low and they could get us all down to normal much more quickly if they wanted to. There will be a burn ban soon if it does not rain. It does look to be a good fall fishing season. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental still has two cabins open for Labor Day weekend and one pontoon available. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation before you have to pay much more elsewhere. You can stay at the best place and still save a lot of $. Fishing has not changed and the Stripers are in very deep water in the Oxygen bubble and are making reaction strikes on the spoon if you srop it right on their heads. They are not feeding. Kentucky Bass are coming in shallow in the evening to feed on Crawdads and Bluegill are biting off Blackburns Dock on Crickets. Not much else is happening. Scuba Steve is getting a few Walleye and Crappie Diving near the thermocline but the poor visibility is making it tough. Scuba Steve is still concerned about a big Striper kill later this month. Conditions are ripe for it and he hopes it will not happen. The water has been too high for too long and the vegetation was making a comeback on the shoreline but it will be all dead now. Blackburns Resort Brush piles should be at the right depth at Labor day and the Crappie, Walleye and Bass will move back in. The lake overall is in good condition for boating, swimming and water sports. If you are not staying at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental you are paying too much.
