The lake level is 566.97 and has dropped 4-inches in the last 24-hours. They have cut back on generation to just over 1 generator to keep Norfork Lake up as high as possible for as long as possible for no reason. I was hoping the new Colonel that took over for the Corps of Engineers in Little Rock last week had more sense but government people seem to continue to be government people. Not much hope for them. The White River at Newport is 15.02 feet and dropping. The surface water temperature is 91-degrees and the thermocline is at 26-feet. Several fish are at that depth including Kentucky bass, White Bass and Walleye. The larger Stripers are deep in 85-90 feet of water and starving for oxygen. Drop a 1-ounce spoon on their heads if you want one. Scuba Steve is concerned about a Striper kill later this month. There is a top-water bite for bass some days early which is rare for August. You have to be very specific as to where and when to catch fish. Big Bluegill are biting on crickets off Blackburns Dock. The weather has cooled off and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is very busy with people taking advantage of the best prices on both boat rentals and cabins in the Ozarks. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and we have the largest pool with slide and baby pool in the area and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Our playground is big, green and flat with lots of activities. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. There is still time to bring the children for a summer vacation. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Compare prices. Why pay more unless you just have too much money. If you do stay at Blackburns and give the difference to disabled Veterans.
