The lake level is 570.36 and has dropped 3-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours. The bowl is getting smaller. The White River at Newport is 15.33 feet and dropping. It could be a lot more. There are still a few partially submerged water-logged pieces of wood out there so keep an eye out. We need to drop about 11-feet to get all services back to normal on the lake. The surface water temperature is 90+ degrees and the weather remains hot and dry. The lake and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's big pool are the places to be. It is tough on the people working outdoors for a living. The thermocline is at 24-feet and the visibility has diminished a bit but still OK for Scuba Diving. Bass feeding at night on Crawdads, Stripers making reaction strikes on spoons deep and Bluegill biting off docks on crickets are still the best bites. Bait fish are everywhere around cover. Not much else is happening. Scuba Steve is seeing a few more Crappie but no big schools. The Ducks and Turtles are feeding heavily off Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's dock on 32% protein Catfish Food and they are bringing their babies with them. Overall the lake is in good condition for Boating, Scuba Diving, Swimming and Fishing but still too high. The best bet is still to go partially back in a cove out of the wind in a pontoon boat, anchor in about 25-ft. of water and swim around the boat. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best price on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. It also has the biggest pool. Come on down and get out of the heat. It is nice here and the price is right. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. No week-long reservation needed.
