The lake level is 571.95 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously. The surface water temperature is 88-degrees and will increase with the upcoming hot weather. The long term weather forecast is sunny and hot. The thermocline is at 23-feet and is more pronounced and dropping. The White River at Newport is 16.39 feet and is also dropping. There is no effort to drop the area lakes very quickly except Table Rock which is approaching normal. The lake is high but in good condition for swimming, boating, diving and fishing. Bink reports the Stripers are deep in 60-70 feet of water near the bottom in the oxygen bubble and not moving or exerting themselve. They are also not feeding so you have to drop a 1-Ounce Bink's Many Shad Spoon right on their heads to get a reaction strike. He is catching some big fish everyday. He also reports a few dead Stripers floating but attributes it to fish either getting off after a fight or being released. It is too early for a fish kill but some of us are concerned about one. The water is being held up in the green vegetation for too long creating a big oxygen demand depleting the lake of oxygen. If the kill happens it usually just affects the larger Stripers in the older lakes like Norfork. We will see. You might as well catch them now. The larger Walleye sometimes go deep with the Stripers but there is no evidence of that yet. Some are still hanging around the thermocline with Kentucky Bass and White Bass. The ones that Scuba Steve is catching are not feeding. If you are in the Mountain Home area stop by Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and check us out. We do not mind turn arounds. Take a brochure and compare prices for next year's vacation. You will like our beautiful green flat valley. You do not need to bring your golf cart or ATV to get from your cabin to the resort. Every thing is right on our property. It is against the law to drive them on county roads or Corps of Engineers property any way. Blackburns does not allow them as they are too dangerous for the children and pets. Our big 30x60 pool with slide is open and ready for your visit. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and a free stall for your boat at our dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Yes we have a security system on our dock. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reseration. It is nice here and the price is right. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
