The lake level is 572.25 and has dropped 2-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously. Sometimes they are running but not at full speed. The White River at Newport is 16.81 feet and dropping. It could be much higher but they want to keep the area lakes up as high as possible for a long as possible except Table Rock which is 1+ feet from being normal and the heavy discharge from there into Bull Shoals is preventing it from dropping very fast despite heavy discharge from there also. They are predicting Table Rock tp be normal on 24 July and Bull and Norfork on 15 September. That sounds fair. No corruption there. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and the thermocline is at 22-feet with a mud line with poor visibility from 17-22 feet and fairly clear after that. I did not go below 28-feet. Bink continues to catch some nice Hybrids and Stripers on his spoon and they are going deeper. They are catching some big Bluegill off Blackburns Dock on crickets and worms. Night fishermen are catching Black Bass under black lights on salt craws. It is a tradition on Norfork to go out and use black lights and flourescent line with salt craws with flourescent pinchers all summer and have weekly tournaments after dark to get out of the heat and it looks like a heat wave is on the way. It seldom gets hot the last of July and early August in Baxter County. If you believe that or it is a surprise you may be new or a little slow on the draw. Overall the lake is in good condition for swimming, diving, boating and fishing. If you are staying at a resort other than Blackburns make sure they have a big pool and a dock. We have both. Come on down and join the fun and we will not charge you too much. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Why pay more? If you have too much money stay at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and give the difference to Disabled Veterans.
