Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 572.76 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously. We have received 2-inches of rain in the form of pop up showers in the last week but it has all sunk in with no runoff. Everything is very green and growing. The gardens are doing great, the flowers are blooming and the grass is green and growing. The White River at Newport is 17.06 feet and dropping. Table Rock is 2+ feet from being Normal while Bull Shoals is 26-feet high. Go figure. It is all about the $. There is no corruption in the Corps of Engineers. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and the water is clearing. The thermocline is pushing down a bit and is at about 18-feet with a mud line from 15-21 feet where a lot of the fish are located. The thermocline is normally in the high 20's this time of year and has not moved much.  Stripers and Hybrids are near the bottom at 30+ feet and are hitting spoons with reaction strikes and nothing is feeding heavily except Kentucky bass and a few largemouth on Salt Craws under a black light after dark near the shore on the first drop-off. Some nice Bluegill are biting live crickets off docks. Use a #6 hook with 4-lb. test clear line and a very small split shot and cast it out and let it sink back towards you and the Bluegill will bite if they are there.
