The lake level is 573.78 and has dropped 3.2 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously and spillway gates open just a crack. The White River at Newport is17.70 feet and dropping and there is no concentrated effort to drop the area lakes execept Table Rock. Maybe when it gets to normal they will help us and there is only 4-more feet to go for them. The surface water temperature is 89-degrees and the water is clearing but not good yet. The thermocline still starts at 17-feet and has not been piushed down for some reason. It may be the generation. It can get down to 30-feet in August. Striper fishing is decent near the bottom in 30+ feet of water on the jigging spoon and Bass are biting after dark on Salt Craws under the black light near the shore on the first drop-off. Nothing is feeding heavily except Bluegill on crickets. Scuba conditions are getting better after the holiday churn but there is a mud line at the thermocline where most of the fish are located. The overal lake condition is good as is the fish population. This lengthy high water situation has Scuba Steve concerned about a large Striper kill late this summer. I sure hope not. They could be lowering the area lakes much faster if they wanted to. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. We are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping and have the largest pool with slide and baby pool in the area. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not require as much Policing as he used to for some reason. Pack up the children and come on down.
