The lake level was 576.80 and has dropped 5-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously. They shut off spillway gates at 9:AM this morning and the level will not drop as quickly. They are generating Bull Shoals heavily. The White River at Newport is 20.63 feet and steady. They could let out more if they wanted to but they are in no hurry to drop the area lake levels. They like to keep us one big rain from disaster. All lakes are very high especially Beaver and Bull Shoals. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and rising on Norfork and the water is clearing nicely. They thermocline is dropping and now approaches 20-ft. with good visibility. Scuba Conditions are good with a lot of fish at or around the thermocline including Kentucky Bass, White Bass and smaller walleye. Stripers are at 30-ft. on the bottom and can be caught on the spoon. Some nice largemouth are coming up some mornings early. The fish population on Norfork Lake is excellent and they are fat and healthy. Scuba Steve is seeing very few crappie but they are there and in cover. The lake is high but there is very little debris and overall is in excellent condition for swimming, boating and fishing.
