Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 578.59 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours. Both generators are running continually and they increased the spillway gates to an equivalent of another 1-1/4 generators to a total of 3-1/4. That is quite a bit.The White River at Newport is 21.07 and dropping slowly. Both Table Rock Lake and Bull Shoals Lake are now steady but Bull Shoals is very high. It looks like the area lakes are out of trouble for now but they better let out as much water as they can without flooding out downstream. I do not know why they will not do this. For some reason they like to keep us just one rain away from disaster.  The surface water temperature is 82- degrees on Norfork and the water is clearing nicely. There is less debris out there today with stuff starting to stick to the shore but there is still some out there. Do more swimming and less tubing. Sunny and warm weather is scheduled for the next several days and it is a good time to visit Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. Work the old shoreline near the brush for Bass part way back in the creeks with a soft plastic or a small spinner bait and around main lake willows for big Kentucky Bass and Walleye. The stripers are going deeper and a Bink's Jigging spoon is the best. Drop it on their heads. There is a top-water bite some mornings early but are mostly Bass. Shad and Bluegill minnows are everywhere in the buckbrush and there is plenty of food. All fish being caught by Scuba Steve are very fat. The thermocline is 18-feet with cold water under that. The visibility is good on sunny days. A lot of fish are in or around cover at the thermocline. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has no diminished services except you have to launch at Panther Bay. We normally have two launches here and will have again when the water drops. We will help you launch if needed. You can drive to the dock, park and step right on the dock.
