The lake level is 576.94 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with a little less than one generator running most of the time and both running for a few hours. The White River at Newport is 19.97 feet and dropping slowly. They could be letting out more water without hurting anything. The water is clearing nicely and the surface water is 81-degrees and rising. It is to get warm next week. The lake is high but in good condition. The Stripers are going deep and a lot of other fish including Walleye, Bass and Crappie are in cover at or around the thermocline at 18-feet. Spearfishing for Scuba Divers starts today and conditions are good. Watch for a red flag with a white line through it and keep away. Use a one ounce Bink;s Many Shad for the Stripers and a 1/4 ounce for the walleye. Start looking on main lake points and around the islands. A small spinner bait in the brush for Bass. There is a top-water bite for red meat fish and Bass some days early. Crappie are starting to school but moving. Bait fish from this spring's spawn are everywhere. Nothing is going hungry. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. It is nice here and the price is right. The children love the big 30x60 pool with slide and baby pool and the big green, level playground with lost of stuff for them to do. You can drive to the dock and step right on but have to go to Panther Bay to launch. We normally have two launches right at the dock but not now. They will be back when the lake drops. Right now we have the best set-up anywhere. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
