The lake level is 576.79 and has dropped just a bit in the last 24-hours with a little less than 1 generator running. The White River at Newport is 20.11 feet and dropping with room for more water. It is not high. Bull Shoals is still rising and very high with a lot of water coming in from Table Rock which is dropping quickly with huge amounts of generator discharge and spillway gates open. Got to get Table Rock back to normal before the 4th of July holiday while flooding out Bull Shoals more. Bull is now up 33-feet from where it was and rising with 2+ feet from breaching the spillway. One big rain in northwest Arkansas the Corps of Engineers with be in trouble. They must be counting on a dry summer. The surface water temperature on Norfork is 80-degrees and the water is a good color for fishing, boating and swimming. A lot of Bass, Crappie, Bluegill are on the old shorline just outside the buckbrush back in the creeks and big Bluegill and Bass are on main lake flooded willows.  Bass and Red Meat fish are coming up early and then going down on shad on the main lake. One thing to try is when you see fishing coming up they sometimes are smaller fish eating the wounded shad surfacing after being hurt by feeding Stripers. Instead of just fishing the top-water fish go directly over them and drop a spoon down deeper. This can be very effective.  Catfishing is slow but should get better after the moon gets smaller now that the lake level has stabilized. Use larger 3-4 inch Shiners and Bluegill for bait right at the old shoreline. If you are planning a trip to Norfork compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right.  You do not have to book for a week but keep the stay between the Saturdays. You can typically stay at Blackburns and rent a boat for less than just renting a boat at a marina. The children will love the big pool with slide and baby pool and the large flat playgound with lots of stuff to do. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
