The lake level is 577.85 and has dropped 4-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously and spillway gates open to an equivalent of another 1-1/2 generators. The White River at Newport is 22.28 feet and dropping and well within it's banks. It is not near flood stage anymore. The surface water is 79-degrees and is trying to clear. Bull Shoals has still risen in the last 24-hours and is very high but they have started to generate more there and it should start to drop soon if we do not get much rain. It has not started yet but it is very cloudy. A significant rain in certain areas could change all of this quickly but things have started to dry up a bit. A rain like they had in Kansas yesterday would be devestating to the area. As of now things are improving. There is no debris in the Blackburns Creek area and the water is high but in good condition for swimming and fishing. Nice fish are being caught everyday. The water has dropped over a foot and one half since it's high and debris is sticking to the bank again. Stripers, Bass, Catfish and Crappie are all being caught. You can drive to Blackburns Dock, park and step right on. The new launch at Panther Bay is open and not far from Blackburns Dock where you can get a stall for your boat free with a cabin rental of two days or more. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. The children will love the big pool with slide and baby pool and level playground with lots of stuff for them to do.
