Scuba Steve with a pretty good one.
Scuba Steve with a pretty good one.

The lake level is 569.88 and has risen 2-inches in the last 24-hours with no generation since 9:PM last night. The White River at Newport is 19.21 feet and rising but well in it's banks. Bull Shoals is still rising and very very high with Table Rock running all generators into it plus they opened up spillway gates big time to keep Branson Landing Normal for the Holiday. We are to get several inches of rain this weekend starting Saturday and it looks like the Corps of Enginners has themselves in a bind again. They always blame the rain and say the dams are doing what they are designed to do, hold water, and it is the same year after year, over and over. They are the only ones that get surprised when it rains in the spring and refuse to draw the levels down in the winter and then quit generating when it rains. There plan is to hold and hope and then wait until the crops are well up downstream and then open gates and flood everything out. The only thing that stops them from holding is when there is danger of them breaching the spillway and going over the dam. They should take advantage of all opportunities to let out water whenever possible without flooding downstream.  There is no accountability except when they flood Table Rock and then all Hell breaks loose. Otherwise no problem. They need to be incorporated under the Department of Interior. The surface water temperature is in the low 70's on Norfork and dropping again. The ambient temperatures are to be below normal this weekend. The water wants to clear and then it rains again but that is not unusual for May. Fishing has slowed but there is a top-water bite most mornings. Scuba Steve is not a big fan of holiday weekends to say the least. The jet skis are out there already seeing how far they can go back in the creeks and how close they can go to docks and other boats. I had missed them since early last fall. Kinda like a barnacle being removed from your behind. I was trying to figure out what good they are except to teach young people how to abuse equipment. They are good for that. There should be a thermocline forming soon and then the walleye will get going. Got to go grade the road, mow the grass and work on the pool. It is starting.
