The lake level is 570.17 and is up just a bit in the last 24-hours with both generators running for about 8-hours. There has been no generation since last evening. The White River at Newport is 13.97 feet and still dropping and is no longer high by any means. Bull Shoals is still rising and getting very high with Table Rock now below the top of their power pool but still generating heavily. Bull Shoals is more than 22-feet over. If I lived on Bull Shoals I would be calling my Congressman. The surface water on Norfork is back up over 70-degrees and rising with the low 70's in most places. The ambient temperatures are very warm with highs in the 80's and warm nightime lows near 70. It looks like all dangers of frost are over. We usually get one in early May. The lake continues to clear with the very slowly rising waters and is a good color for fishing. It is very clear the further south you go. White bass continue to surface early and come in with the shad under lights after dark. The Threadfin Shad were spawning a few days ago and the White bass, Black Bass and Hybrids like that. Several other species are in the Buckbrush in about 10-15 ft. of water part way back in the creeks. Catfishing is fair to good and is getting better as the moon gets smaller. Flathead are still the best but some nice Channels are showing up. Scuba Steve has not seen a Blue Cat this season and very few the last few years. There used to be a lot of them but not anymore. Bluegill are spawning and everything thing else is about done except for Channel Cats and Flatheads. Flatheads are the last to spawn in Norfork. Kentucky Bass spawn continuously most of the summer. The wind is picking up with the warm weather but it has been nice to have light winds for a while. There is still some large debris still floating around out there with the rising water and will stick to the shore if they ever drop the lake. It is blowing around with the wind. Overall the fishing conditions are good except the water is too high and hampers lake access, parking and campsites are very limited. Blackburns now has two cabins open for Memorial day weekend. Some fill them and then some cancel. We had been scheduled full for months. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right.
