The lake level is 569.81 and is up 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with no discharge of any kind. They must be trying to get us up over 570 for the Holiday to keep the campgrounds under water for Memorial Day. Not many of them open now. The White River at Newport is 16.51 feet and dropping quickly and the Black River at Black Rock is back in it's banks. Bull Shoals is up another 5-inches and very high and they are overfilling it even now that Table Rock is back to normal. It is unbelieveable what they are doing to Bull Shoals. It and Norfork are the ugly step-children. They will probably empty Beaver lake now as it is 7-feet high. It is in a higher populated area than Bull and Norfork and it is all about the $. Bull is 21-feet high and rising. Wow. The surface water temperature is 68-69 degrees and stable and most people are catching fish. The White Bass population has made a complete recovery on Norfork from it's decline a few years ago and they are biting well early morning on top-water and after dark under lights. There is a lot of baitfish out there and much more to come with the prolific spawn. The lake level has stayed in less than a two foot range for a month and at a level where there is ample cover, resulting in the best spawning conditions in years for most species. I am not sure about the Walleye as their spawn was early and during the rapid changes in water level. Scuba Steve would like to see them stocked again by Arkansas Game and Fish and not just Stripers and Hybrids. Fill that rearing pond up again with Walleye guys. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has two cabins open for the Memorial Day weekend. We were full. Compare Prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation.
