Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

5/5/2025

The lake level is 569.43 and has risen 1-inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously and spillway gates open to an equivalent of 1-1/4 generators. They cut way back on the spillway gates three days ago. The White River at newport is 22.55 feet and dropping slowly but The Black River at Black Rock is still flooded. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is still 6.2 feet but has crested but still sending quite a bit of water into the Norfork River. Bull Shoals is very high and rising quickly with Table Rock dumping a lot of water into it. And I mean a lot. Table Rock is just a couple of feet above normal. The surface water temperature on Norfork is about 70-degrees and the Bass and Crappie spawn are about over and it was a good one. The Bass Scuba Steve is catching are spawned out.  The Channel Cat are moving into the creeks with the Flathead and are being caught on live bait. The Flathead move out when the Gar move in.  Bass and Crappie are scattered in the buckbrush and around any cover and cover is everywhere. Bass are biting on a bladed jig. There were 75-boats in the Bass Tournament Saturday and a little over 11-lbs. won. It was to benefit the Norfork Lake Fireworks on July 3rd and was at Panther Bay Marina. There are reports of debris between the bridges. The water color ranges from a light brown in Blackburns area to clear in Shoal Creek. There is a top water bite most mornings for White Bass in Big Creek and Panther creek. A few stripers are being caught in open water on shad. We need the lake to drop and stick some of this debris. What we don't need is more rain in the Norfork River watershed until this high water gets out of the rivers. None of this is a surprise except to the people managing the dams. There is no debris in Blackburns Creek.
