The lake level is 568.04 and has dropped 1-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with the same discharge for over 2-weeks at an equivalent of 3-1/3rd generators. We received 0.7 inches of rain this morning and Bryant Creek is up over a foot so some water is heading this way. I do not know how much rain there was in Tecumseh but the creeks run here at Blackburns Resort but not too fast. The surface water temperature is in the low 70's and the water is trying to clear. The White River at Newport is 23.94 feet and they are controlling the area lake's discharges to that level which is much higher than they had controlled it in years past. The top-water bite happens most mornings now for red meat fish and there is some in the evening for Bass in windblown creeks. Several fish of different species are in cover at the old lake shore before the rise including Black Bass and Crappie. You can cast to the shore where possible and catch some nice big Black Crappie on a grub and minnow. A few Walleye are with them. More Bass and Crappie have spawned now than haven't but the spawn continues especially for Kentucky Bass. Bluegill and Carp will be soon. A lot of fish are under Blackburns Dock. I talked to Trump about having Elon do an investigation on the Corps of Engineers and he said Elon was leaving DOGE but he had a good support staff and would check into it. My suggestion was to put them under the Department of Interior and have strict supervision over them and have them quit weaponizing their authority and help people rather than threaten them. We will see. He said he reads Scuba Steve's Blog often and appreciates input. No scuba Steve is not interested in being appointed to Secretary of the Interior. He has Catfish and Crappie to catch. The lake is slow dropping and everytime it starts to drop it rains again. It would be nice to get back down to below 560. That is the level in which parking lots and roads were built in the 1940's before the lake was flooded. The top-of the power pool moves up a foot to 554.75 tomorrow so they have 13-1/2 feet to go to get there. Let us hope it does not take all summer. Everything is fine here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and the fishing is getting better every day. You can launch your boat right here and a free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Some charge for them. We do not. Be sure and ask so you do not get a big $ surprise. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Come on down and we will not charge you too much.
