Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

4/29/2025

Braden Davis with a nice one. Released. The lake level is 568.16 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously and spillway gates open to an equivalent of 2-1/3rd more generators. The White River a Newport is 24.03 feet and stable but very high. It is just under the minor flood stage of 26-feet. They are letting out as much from the area lakes as they can without flooding out things downstream. The water has actually pretty stable for the last couple of weeks. They try to draw it down and it rains again. The surface water temperature is in the low 70's depending on where you are. The Bass and Crappie spawn is progressing nicely and it has been a good one. Maybe the best in years. We missed the storms that went west and north of us this morning so far but more are to come. There has been a top-water bite most mornings for White Bass and Small Stripers and the same fish are feeding on shad under docks with lights after dark. The fish that are not on shad are scattered on the old shoreline before the water rise around buckbrush and other cover but some nice ones are being caught every day. Bass are coming up in the backs of windblown creeks in the evenings on Shad. The big Bluegill are still under Blackburns dock but they will spawn soon and leave for a few days and come back. The Carp have not spawned in the back of Blackburns Creek yet and when they do the Catfish will be in there too and probably are. Thousands of Carp come back there every year for some reason.  Everytime I get set to get some Catfish something happens. Maybe today. This is definitely a good time to visit Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. The weather is warm, the prices are low and the fish are biting. Come on down and join the fun and we will not charge you too much. A free stall at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Some charge for them. Be sure and ask. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and we are closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
