Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

4/28/2025

Phillip and Brian from Coal City, Illinois with some nice ones fishing with Bink's Guide service. Glad to have them and they are always welcome. The lake level is 568.39 and has risen 6-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator still running continuously and spillway gates open to an equivalent of another 2-1/3rd generators. We reveived 1.1 inches of rain here at Blackburns Resort and the creeks ran. Bryant Creek went up to 10-feet in Tecumseh but has dropped to just over 6-feet now so the rise should slow if they keep up the current discharge. The White River at Newport is 24.15 feet and steady but very high so they are letting out as much as they can without flooding out downstream. More rain is coming later this week. The surface water dropped to just under 70-degrees in Blackburns Creek with the runoff and is a little warmer on the main lake. The water is brown again in this area just when it was starting to clear. Things are changing everyday. The top-water bite is happening most days now with several White bass and smaller Stripers being caught. These guides better quit killing all of those small stripers or they will put themselves out of business. There are more guides out there now than I have ever seen in my life. Every other boat is a guide boat. They must be getting rich. No sense having dock floors full of dead fish just to impress potential customers. Catch a lot, keep a few and release a few. Bass and Crappie are biting on the old shoreline before the lake rise on small spinner baits and creature baits. White bass are coming to the lights around docks after dark and a few Walleye are with them. The spawn for Bass and crappie is going well and should be a good one. I am not sure about the Crappie numbers this year but the next couple of weeks will tell when the water finally drops back to the brush piles. There is a lot of cover now. It is time now for Scuba Steve to check out the Catfishing. He likes those Flatheads.  Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best place with the best price in the Ozarks on both cabins and boat rentals.
