CCaught fishing with Bink's Guide Service on a Creature Bait. The lake level is 568.43 and has dropped 4-inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously and spillway gates open to an equivalent of another 2-1/3 generators. The White River at Newport is 24.11 feet and stable but high. The surface water temperature is 66-degrees and rising. Bass and Crappie are spawning and some are finished. It should be a good spawn for them. Some Gizzard Shad have started spawning and are a little earlier than Threadfin Shad. There are reports of threadin spawning but Scuba Steve has not seen any yet. It usually takes 70-degree water for them and Bluegill on Norfork. Both spawn mulitple times through out the summer. They are easy prey when they do and it can make for good Bass fishing. Look for willows in 4-ft. of water and in buckbrush and behind it. Smallmouth bass are biting well now and Crappie are picking up. Drop a spoon in 25-30 ft. of water just outside the normal bank before the water rise for Kentucky Bass and cast a creature bait on a jig head to the shore behind the bruckbrush when you can find an opening. Some very nice Smallmouth are being caught and they are fun. Several male Crappie are guarding nests and some spawned out females are post spawn feeding. It is a good time of year and fishing is picking up nicely and needed to. Some top-water has begun but mostly Bass. Stripers will begin soon. A lot of baitfish are back in the windblown creeks shallow.
