Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 569.13 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with a combination of one generator and spillway gates open to a total of 3-1/2 generators. They are doing everything they can to stop the rise and lower the lake to the top of the power pool but have a long way to go. We are still 15-1/2 feet from there. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is 6.55 feet, crested and dropping. The White River at Newport is 24.24 feet and fairly stable and high but in it's banks. The water color is still a brownish color here but lightening up a little and clear down on the main lake by the dam. You can see down 4-5 feet at Quarry Marina near the shore and the water is a little cooler there. There will be no sight fishing during spawn this year in Blackburns Creek area and the spawn for Bass and Crappie is in full swing and Bluegill are next. Surface water temperature is 65-degrees in Blackburns area and bluegill spawn at 70-degrees on Norfork.  They are pre-spawn feeding off Scuba Steve's dock now. The ambient temperature is to get in the 80's today and tomorrow and the top-water bite should start. Smallmouth Bass are on the old shoreline biting creature baits on a jig head and a few Kentucky Bass are hitting spoons in 28-30 ft. of water. I have not caught a Walleye or Striper but they are coming in under my dock light at night but are in open water during the day. Shad are back in the creeks where the wind has been blowing into.
