Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

4/16/2025

The lake level is 569.98 and has dropped 3-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours. They shut off the one generator at 8:AM and increased spillway gates at the same time and now have increased spillway gates again equal to 3-1/2 generators. They are all over the place but must be expecting quite a bit of rain this weekend. The surface water temperature is 60-62 degrees and the White River at Newport is 26.22 feet and about in its banks but the Black River at Black Rock is still 22.31 feet and keeping the White River full. They got it bad over there and there flood stage is only 14-ft. Bryant Creek at Tecumseh and Lick Creek are normal so not a lot is coming into the Norfork River. It has been two weeks since the 4-day rain and things have not nearly recovered. They have kept generating at Table Rock Lake and it is about at normal. Branson must not be flooded at all costs. All of the other lakes are for holding water and not recreation.  A lot of muddy water will be going over the spillway at Norfork Dam. Everything here depends on how much rain we get Saturday and Sunday in the Norfork River basin. Spawning and staging Crappie do not like quickly dropping water and will pull off their beds and wait. Sometimes for a couple of weeks until they give up and just spawn if the level does not stabilize for at least a few days. The Smallmouth were biting yesterday in the buckbrush on the old shoreline and we will see what they are doing today. Scuba Steve is seeing just a sporatic top-water bite and they are all small Bass. Catfish do not like dropping water and big moons. Things they are a changin but Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental will have $69/day one bedroom cabins until Memorial Day weekend. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more and you can launch right here. Come on down. We will not charge you too much.
